After reading the introduction to “Everyone’s An Author”, I
am now convinced that anyone can be an author. I used to view the term author as
a very specific title for people who wrote literature for a living, but I now
see that anyone can be an author in multiple ways. While the advancement of
technology has certainly aided this concept, simple things like writing a
letter or a to do list is expressing thoughts and ideas as much as writing an
article would be. The contexts are certainly different, and some forms of
writing are more formal than others, but there are no restrictions to the level
of formality an author must posses in order to be considered one. And like
anything, the more you do something, the better you become at the skill. There
is always room to improve various skills related to being an author. The
simplest thing like writing a blog post is working to become a better author.
And since everyone is an author, everyone is also a researcher and a student. There is no limit as to how much a knowledge a person can gain in their life. People use ideas from other sources frequently to formulate their own works and
also to confirm their own opinions. From essays in college to Facebook posts
about the government, writing invariably includes collaborations of multiple
authors’s thought and ideas.
